Below the current Christiansborg are the ruins of the oldest castles that have stood on the site: Bishop Absalon's castle from 1167 and Copenhagen Castle, which was demolished in 1731. In the atmospheric excavations, you can explore, among other things, the defensive wall from Absalon's castle and the mighty Blue Tower, where the king's daughter Leonora Christina was imprisoned for 22 years. The historical exhibition shows Christiansborg's 800-year history as a medieval castle, royal residence and center of power.
Opening hours: Tuesday-Sunday 10.00-17.00
ATTENTION: Please note that the palace may be closed due to HM The Queen's use of the palace. Always check today's opening hours at christiansborg.dk before your visit. Here you will also find practical information about wardrobe and storage, photography etc.
