Struggle or collaboration in Denmark and Slovakia during World War II

The Museum of Danish Resistance and the Embassy of Slovakia invite you to an exciting evening on the 4th of December 2024 on the Slovak National Uprising in 1944 and the Danish August uprising in 1943.

In 1944, the Slovak resistance movement rebelled against the pro-Nazi government in Slovakia. An event that has great significance in Slovakia even today. But how did the Slovak uprising develop, how did it end, and are there any similarities between this uprising and the Danish August uprising in 1943?

First Gry Scavenius Bertelsen, curator at The Museum of Danish Resistance Collection & Archives, introduces the Danish resistance struggle and the August uprising of 1943.

Museum Director Marian Uhrin from the Museum of the Slovak National Uprising will then introduce the Slovak resistance struggle and the uprising of 1944. This is followed by a special screening of a segment from the film My Uprising.

After the screening, Gry Scavenius Bertelsen and Juraj Lepiš, curator at the Museum of the Slovak National Uprising, will have a joint conversation on similarities and differences of the resistance struggle in Denmark and Slovakia.
