When you enter, you step into the late 1800s at one of the city's peaks. Time stands still here. Wholesaler Rudolph Christensen had made a good profit from his business with gloves, tulle and frills for middle-class women. The fortune was spent by the grocer and his wife Elina Christensen on their splendid apartment, which they decorated in a trendy jumble of trinkets, fan palms, prismatic chandeliers, carved panels, embroidered cushions and pompous furniture.
